My wife & I will be driving to Sevilla from Portugal the during our three week from USA. I have read about the "challenges" of driving and/or parking in historical center area of Sevilla. To avoid this challenge we are concerning a hotel with parking close but outside of the center area and/or a recommendation of a hotel in the center area that is drivable (However I am experienced with trip driving in other countries/trips.) but not too difficult. Any recommendations, past experinces and/or suggestions would be welcomed.
Thank-you!
You might look at this one, outside of Sevilla, in Santiponce. I haven't stayed there yet, but will be doing so in May. http://www.hotelanfiteatroromano.es/
Just a personal opinion but I think you will have a better experience of Seville by staying centrally. You are right to be concerned about driving in the city, especially in the old part, which is a nightmare and to be avoided at all costs. Outside the old part is relatively OK. The train station has good parking and is easy to get to and there are some parking stations on the edge of the city. Parking stations are all marked with a blue P and can be found on a GPS. Sorry - cannot help with hotels and parking but they do exist.
Got to agree with Liz. With our GPS we had NO trouble driving right up to the Hotel Amadeus (amazing...great hotel and staff...great central location!), and then we parked down the street in the underground parking lot. You don't need a car in Seville, but we did day trips exploring areas outside of Seville from this location. And you wallked a few blocks and you were near everything. It's all spelled out in Rick's book.
Hello all, Thanks for the information...we are exploring all of them. I do have a follow-up question. Has anyone one parked a car at the Sevilla train station for a few days? Good safe secure parking? The thought is we leave our rental car and the train station and take public transport/taxi to a center area hotel. Thoughts?
Thank-you
Yes we have left our car at the train station for several days at a time. I would expect no problems.
