While on the topic of country-wide strikes, Spain will theoretically go on strike on the 29th of Sept. Unlike France, which has mostly supported the 5 national strikes this summer, this strike seems designed more to console the egos of the union leaders than actually improve the lot of the workers, and in fact, roughly 70% of polled workers have no intention of striking. Unfortunately, travelers will be affected due to imposed minimum services in public transportation. This means that 60% of all international flights will not be allowed to take off or land, 75% of city buses and subways will not run, and bus and train services between cities will be similarly impacted. If at all possible, avoid trying to travel on this day.
