My husband and I are planning a French countryside trip Sept. 4 2013; and want to train to Liore Valley, do some biking and only a bit of chateau site seeing; then continue by train to the Sarlat area, as it sounds so good in the Rick Steves book. Then kicking around the idea to go back up to Tours for two days, as the train will take us to Lyon, for a real change of area. A few days there, maybe as much as 4 in that area, then work our way back to Paris to fly out September 25 or 26. Since we are of an age where we heard and saw enough about World War II, we may not factor Normandy into our trip HOWEVER, we do want to see small villages where most convenient. Please let us know if anyone recommends Normandy small town OVER small towns to the East, in the Lyon (Burgundy) area. We already spent one week in Paris 11 years ago, and hope to be there at least 3 days. Thanks, Janice
