Senior citizen discount card for France

We leave Nov. 27 for 18 days in France. Rick's book said to get a Senior discount card from isic.org, but I can't find a spot to sign up for seniors. Can someone give me ideas? Thanks, Nadine

Nadine, I think the ISIC is a student organization, so how could you sign up for a senior's discount card? In any case, senior discounts are generally limited to the citizens/residents of the particular country, or of the EEU or Shengen. I'm a senior, so I would be interested in discounts. I have asked at various times in France, and Holland, but was only given a pitying shake of the head. The only benefit being old gave me was to be able to use the elevator at the Arc de Triomphe, rather than to climb all those steps.

We dontknow about museum cards and the like but french rail system offers Carte Senior, which is available to foreigners, in France. It offers discounts of at least 25% on fares

The Carte Senior costs about €50, though, for one year.

Just remember to ask for the discount for "troiseme age" - often you will get it just by proving your age with photo id, like your driver's license.
