Sending luggage ahead by train in Bernese Oberland

I'm going on a self-guided 8-day hiking trip in June. I'm told by my tour guide that it's easy and reliable to send luggage ahead to the next town. He claims that luggage is never lost. I'll be sending luggage from Grindelwald to Wengen. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've used the service and had no problems. For an extra fee Swiss Rail will even deliver your bags directly to your hotel. But Grindlewald and Wengen are quite close to each other...just a cable car ride away.
