My daughter is 24 and traveling alone in europe. She wants to do a self guided tour in the swiss alps by herself for about 10 days. She is going through a tour agency that sets up the huts or hotels and gives her maps. I am nervous. Is it safe. She is a pretty good hiker but it sounds strenous. What if she got hurt or lost. She is going the end of June. How is the weather then?
I would say it is very safe as long as she is experienced in hiking and uses her common sense. The trails are very well-marked, and well-used. She will seldom be alone, especially on the major trails between villages.
Each time we are hiking there, we run into people who are hiking their way across Switzerland on a long-distance route---alone.
