Seine dinner cruise

In a month we will be in Paris. I would really like to take a dinner cruise on the Seine with my wife and two teenage boys. The issue is that we are packing very lightly and will not be bringing formal clothing. Does anyone have any experience with dinner cruises which have a casual dress code where we would not be out of a place?

The guidebook suggests Le Captaine Fracasse and their web site does indicate that it is a casual dressed cruise.

I am hoping that there is a level of class here compared to some of the white trash bafoonery I witness in Florida. For example, if the meal is served instead of a buffet style, things are much better. As long as this is not like a Carnival Cruise dinner desert bar buffet on the first day at sea, I can take it.

hey there;
I resemble that remark!

we - no children involved - have opted for the dinnerless seine cruise, for the reasons stated above.

I am now leaning towards just taking a night time cruise after eating in a restaurant near the Tower. The ship does not do a dinner cruise on one evening and our table view is by luck unless I want to pay for a better spot.

I think the best lesson is to be flexible since we have kids.

As per Carnival Cruise dining trivia. I knew about people owning stretchable "eating pants" but I was surprised at seeing people with their own eating shirts where they unbuttoned a button each day from the bottom for the shirt to fit. One guy amazed me as after 4 days he left the ship with his gut bursting out since he could not button the bottom 4 buttons.

I gave up Florida Chinese buffets 17 years ago after seeing two adults and two little kids trying to heave/ho their grandmother into a minivan side door when she could not make it in after particularly brutal dinner session.

Good decision to eat dinner elsewhere. You could also be stuck at a table near diesel fumes, whereas on a regular ride you are free to change places. The kids, old and young, will love the ride.

Are you familiar with the batobus? It makes a continuous loop on the Seine between the ET and the Jardins des Plantes. It makes about eight stops and you can buy tickets just for the batobus or a combo with the HOHO bus. We used it several days last time we went to Paris, skipping the Seine cruise boats which seemed to be overpopulated with yahoos.
