segovia to San Lorenzo de el Escorial (and toledo if poss) by train or bus?
I fly into madrid and want to see these 3 places (1 night each) before continuing on the AVE south.
Is there a way to get between these areas without going all the way back to madrid each time?
I think I HAVE to go back after toledo to catch the AVE but if I could bypass Madrid otherwise it would help.
Plan to spend a few nights in Madrid at the end of my trip before flying home.
ps-I don't think I can afford a car rental AND train.

They inaugurated the AVE train to Toledo, which would be the best way to get there and back. You can get a roundtrip ticket for 12 Euros. It is an easy trip, and some people even use to to comute to work. Escorial and Segovia you can most likely do in one day, as well as the Franco Monument.

Lori, and if you are on your way to Segovia, you must try the "Lechoncito a la Segoviana" (typical food) and you might be interested in visiting SALAMANCA, a beautiful city with one of the oldest universities in the world.
