According to the on line ticket site, no tickets are available for this exhibit. Bloggers have told us that they are only sold at the Grand Palais, in lines averaging two or three hours, but that there are plenty available. We will be there from Monday, 1/10/11 through 1/14/11. Has anyone else had success buying the timed tickets in advance lately? Thank you.
This may not interest you, but if you book a stay at one of the six Concorde hotels in Paris, they give you 2 priority tickets. Details at: www.concorde-hotels.com/en
Hi, We already made hotel reservations in conjunction with our Air France flights, so I cannot change hotels now. That is good advice, though, and, had I thought about it before, I would have done that. Just before I made the flight reservations, there were Monet tickets available. So, I had bad timing. I am still willing to wait in line, so hope that will work out. We are purposely going after the holidays and before the final two weeks of the Monet exhibit, so I am feeling sort of positive about this plan.
Thank you! Carlene
There are lots of tickets available if you're willing to spend a bit more. We're in Paris now. Our dates were sold out online through the Grand Palais website a month ago. I ended up purchasing a combo ticket for around 30 euros per person for a "no queuing" ticket good for any day that allowed us to skip the line and walk straight in. It was bundled with a 40 minute Seine cruise with dessert which we ended up not using. A bit pricey, but the flexibility ended up being worth it for us. Send me a message if you want the website.
Yes, I would like the web site for the ticket/Seine cruise combination. I just spent more money than that today with Context Travel, which includes a tour with a docent for 2.5 hours, as well as the tickets. It was pricey, but the artist/instructor who wants to go is nagging me every day about this, so it was worth the money to make the problem go away. Your combo ticket is good information, though, for the next time we do this, so the web site would be very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Carlene - Here's another option: http://www.rmn.fr/english/purchase/a-ticket/for-a-subscription/a-sesame
We saw the exhibit the first week in October. Stood in line. "Line Marker" when we got there said 3 hours but, acutally, only took a little over an hour. Advanced ticket holder line was just as long as our line. But whatever happens that exhibit IS WORTH WHATEVER you have to pay to see it!!!! Over 160 Monets right after another.
The website I mentioned is http://francetourisme.fr. The ticket is non-queuing, so you can just walk in. We were able to bypass the folks standing in line. Be warned -- the first two rooms of the exhibition were elbow to elbow, but it thins out as you move through. In any case, it is definitely worth it. We visited the Orangerie right after and it was a great complement as well as being much more relaxing.
