Even though I see it's fairly easy to get to town from Schiphol using train/tram, we'd like to have a taxi for our group of 5. Any suggestions on booking? There is a link on the schiphol.nl website. I also found a service by googling but don't know how to evaluate. Not sure if appropriate to name service I found in this question.
Are you referring to an actual taxi or a car service? If you're looking for a regular taxi, just head over to the the taxi stand; there will literally be a hundred taxis waiting in line 24/7:) If your group is five adults splitting the cost, then a regular taxi should be good for your needs. If you're traveling as a family with children, then a car service may very well save you some money. Unfortunately I can't give you any recommendations. The "Travel Taxi" described on the Schipol website appears to be a private car-service operation, that the airport has some sort of interest in. These are different from the regular taxis waiting outside.
To clarify, thank you for mentioning the distinction: I think we're thinking car service. With our group, it looked like not much more expense than a taxi and figured less hassle.
