We will be in this area in mid Sept., want to visit Sarlat, Bordeaux and Chateau Margaux. Where would be the best location to stay overnight? Would you recommend any inns or B&B's? There will be 3 of us (all adults) by car.
We were in Sarlat a few weeks ago and stayed at La Villa des Consuls. They have a small number of rooms/apartments for rent with fridges and microwaves in the rooms and shared (free) washer/dryer facilities. We were extremely happy with the room and the location in Sarlat.
Since the hotel is located in the pedestrian district, you do have to park 100-200 yards away and walk in but we didn't find that to be much of an inconvenience.
A number of years ago I was on a tour of France (with a very inefficient leader who could not even find his way to Aigues Mortes) and in Sarlat we stayed at the Hotel de Selves. It was very beautiful and how Mr. Inefficiency managed to book us into such a sweet place remains a mystery.
Constance,
You might have a look at the This Hotel in Sarlat. I stayed there recently and it was great!
Happy travels!
