I am in Marcillac Saint Quentin at my parents home and am looking for some good restaurants in the Dordogne Region...Sarlat, Beynac, Les Eyzies, etc... These restaurants can be for light lunches, traditional French faire, Italian, basically anything as long as it is good food :) Please send along any recommendations! I look forward to any and all! Merci! Barbara Ann
Barbara:
The restaurant at the Hostellerie Maleville (Hotel Pontet) in Beynac specializes in the cuisine of the Dordogne/Perigord.
It has been several years since we were there but when I checked this morning the same folks still own and operate the hotel.
The meals we had when we stayed there are very happy memories - Foie gras, confit de canard, trout, pommes sarladaise - I could go on and on.
Get yourself a Marling Menu Master and enjoy. And for a great look at life and cuisine in the Dordogne read the novel "Bruno, Chief of Police". Have fun.
My best meal in the region was in La Roque Gagnac, at La Belle Etoile. Lovely food and there's a nice river view. (The whole town is adorable). La Recreation in Les Arques is wonderful though a bit of a drive.

Barbara,
In Sarlat, I would HIGHLY recommend Le Presidial Restaurant. The food was wonderful.
Have a look at This site for some reviews.
Happy travels and Buon Appetito!
We had a fabulous dinner at Le Meynardi which is located in the countryside about five miles from Sarlat. It is near the gardens of Les Eyzies. I think we drove through the town of Salginac (sp) to get to it. The menu is very much traditional Perigourd.
