Hello fellow Rickophiles. My fiancee and I have amazingly busy, hectic careers/work schedules with nearly no synchronized time off. However, we both managed to find a week and a half off in September to take a trip. Since I went to San Sebastian nearly 10 years ago, I've dreamt of taking her to see it (one of my favorite cities in the world thusfar). We booked a flight to Spain somewhat hastily, as prices were rising daily. The problem: We just found out that the San Sebastian Film Festival will be going on the very same days we will be there! Rooms are unusually expensive, and not so readily-available. I'm writing to see if anyone has been in San Sebastian for the film festival. If so, was it too crowded or pleasantly lively? I live in Los Angeles, and my nightmare would be to go to S.S. only to be surrounded by movie industry people from Hollywood. Does anyone have any insight as to how the film festival affects the normality of San Sebastian? I'm worried we've wasted valuable money and precious time, and would greatly value everyone's opinion who has any insight, advice, etc. Thanks!
