Salzburg to Venice -- By Bus? Tronchetto to hotel Via People Mover?

We are traveling from Salzburg to Venice by train. On the OBB website it notes the ticket is partly bus. Has anyone taken this? Is this a good idea? Alsoonce in Venice, the bus ends at Tronchetto. I have only arrived in Venice by train. We will be staying near San Marco. I read something about a people mover to get to Venice from Tronchetto. If anyone has completed this tripI would appreciate clarification! Thanks

Terri, at the Tronchetto, you actually are in the Venice islands. The Tronchetto is a huge garage made on land fill. The people mover does run from north end of the the Tronchetto to a location next to the Piazalle Roma. It costs 1Euro last I checked. But, if you want to get to San Marco from the Tronchetto, you don't need the people mover. Instead, there are also two vaporetto stops for the No 2 boat at the Tronchetto that takes you eventually to San Marco (about 30-35 minutes). You can buy your tickets right there at the Tronchetto. Here's a link to show you what the ticket booth looks like. The cruise terminals are behind and a bit distant from the booth. http://gyazo.com/44d74159b7900cd9221497c7c9eaa48c

Hi Terri...my wife and I went from Venice to salsburg and back 2 years ago,we took the obb rail . It is a double decker tour bus from Venice to the town of villagge in Austria then the train to salsburg .it is about 2 1/2 hours by bus and 2 1/2 by rail .it was a great way to travel , the bus left Venice around 9:30 in the morning ,the bus depot is across the bridge to the right of the train station . It is a great trip and beautiful scenery through the Bremmer pss
