Salzburg SOM sites without tour?

Can I pick up a map in Salzburg that would give me directions to drive or walk to see some of the SOM sites without taking the SOM tour? It would be fun to see some of the sites but I don't want to spend the time or money on a tour since we will be touring the region with a car anyway.

Thanks!

Hi Susan and Monte-If you get a chance, don't miss the chance to explore the Salzkammergut region (which was covered on Bob's SOM Tours). It is lovely and peaceful, we were so glad we got to see it. Austria is wonderful, have fun!

Hi Susan and Monte,
... be sure to ride that "Summer Luge" thing too, but watch your knuckles on the way down. P

We just got back from Germany/Austria and did Maria's SOM bicycle tour. It was a lot of fun, gave a good overview of the city and was cheap.

We used bikes lent to us from our B&B and biked to many of the Sound of Music sites. They included Hellbrunn Palace where the "I am 16" gazebo resides, Frohnburg Castle (Used as the front of the VonTrapp home), Hellbrunn Alley (which Maria danced down singing "I have Confidence"), Leopoldskron Castle (used as the back of the Von Trapp house) In addition, there are some sights right in the heart of Salzburg that you can walk to (Fountains, bridges, and Mirabell Palace and Gardens where you can walk through singing "doe a deer" The only sights the tour visits that require a car is the church in Mondsee used in the wedding and St Gilgan which appears at the opening. I enjoyed our bike tour more than the official bus tour. The bus tour didn't let us get out at many of the sights. Vehicles cannot get near Hellbrunn alley and Frohnburg Palace. I used a small book I purchased in Salzburg-"Your Sound of Music Keepsake" that is sold in many stores. With a car, you can visit Mondsee and St Gilgan.
