I will be spending three days and three nights in Salzburg next summer. On the first day I will visit the Mirabell Gardens, Mozart's Residence, the Old Town, and the fortress. On the third day I will take a day trip to Hallstatt and go to a dinner concert & show in the evening. The problem lies in the second day. Here are my options:
Option 1:
9-1 PM - Sound of Music Bicycle Tour
2-6 PM - Lake District Tour w/ Panorama
Option 2:
9-1 PM - Sound of Music Tour w/ Bob's or Panorama
Rent a bike and ride around the river, to the palaces, etc.
Option 3:
Rent a bike and ride around the river, to the palaces, etc.
2-6 PM - Lake District Tour w/ Panorama
Option 4:
9-1 PM - Sound of Music Bicycle Tour
Cable car to Untersberg
Option 5:
9-1 PM - Sound of Music Tour w/ Bob's or Panorama
Cable car to Untersberg
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
I would go with option 5. I lived in Salzburg for six months, so I never felt the need to do a SOM tour, but it's my understanding that they include the lake district also, since they go out to Mondsee to see the church from the movie. The Untersberg is nice, particularly if you have a clear day. I know nothing about the SOM bike tour, so I can't comment on that. (And I'm not all that keen on biking anyway, so the biking options wouldn't interest me.)
Hi Caroline,
... Everyone has their "favorite things" (SOM), I guess. We have suggested another activity for Salzburg to others asking similar questions and you may access those comments by typing into the Search Box [on this very page] the following: Kapuzinerberg, Salzburg.
... If you have any questions about this easy-to-get-to place, just send us a "Private Message" and we'll do our best to help.
... In any event, you will be in the right part of the world to enjoy some unforgetable favorite things.
... Gute Reise! P
Caroline, I was in Salzburg last week and did the Bob's Sound of Music Tour. I highly recommend it!! While they do go to the filming sites of the movie you see more than just that, and the trip out to Mondsee is great. Book early to get the 9am tour; we called 2 days in advance and were told it was already full.
Also we had dinner one night at a place up near the top of the elevator (forget the name, but its in Rick's book). Decent food and great views over the town & countryside. I'd reommnend it.
