Salzburg - Mozart's Birthhouse or Wohnhaus?

I'll be in Salzburg in another week or so. I've heard that there are 2 Mozart museums to see. Any suggestions are which one is more interesting? There's one on the Getreidegasse street (the main street in the old town) and I don't know how far away the other one is.

I have only been to the Wohnhaus, the house where Mozart lived and it very much. It is located on the other side of the river, a short walk away from Mozart's birthplace.

Same thing for me. I think Rick recommends the Wohnhaus over the Geburtshaus in his book.

We visited both back in October. We started at his birth home in the old town. It was interesting. More of an artistic type of exhibit and you can get through it pretty quickly. We walked over to the other house and enjoyed the tour much more. Although we were dead tired and my husband was sick and the house was so warm and the audioguides so long we almost fell asleep!! (ha ha) But we did enjoy the 2nd house much more. Lots more to see and there's a 20 minute film at the end of it as well. Pretty cool.

I have to join the Wohnhaus enthusiasts. I visited a little over a year ago and really enjoyed. I liked seeing the pianos and hearing about his family and life.

It's been about 3 years since I was there, but I doubt much has changed.

I thought the "museum" on the Getreidegasse (main tourist street) was a complete scam. I took it good-naturedly (that is, I laughed at myself for getting suckered) but I thought there was little there at all, and what was there I found very little worthwhile. I was particuarly unimpressed with the room full of "Mozart's such-and-such" - like a lock of Mozart's hair preserved for all time.

The other museum, in the house on the other side of town, was more interesting.

with a salzburg card you can see all the attractions. the second one would be of more interest to you, its just across the bridge.
