Salzburg - Filzmoos

We are a family of 4 from Asia, we will be visiting my daughter in Germany in July. We are planning to make a trip to Munich and then Salzburg. We are mot very sure where to stay in Salzburg that is not in city center but close to palces of interest. We came across an apartment in Filzmoos, would like to have comments and suggestions as to this place, does not seems to see about about it in the web. Any good advises? Thank you.

"would like to have comments ... as to this place" OK. If I were staying in Filzmoos, Wurzer looks like a nice enough place, albeit a bit pricy, at €136 min for two people with breakfast. And Filzmoos looks like a nice destination by itself, but completely inappropriate (over 80 km from Salzburg, over 2 hours by bus and train) for visiting Salzburg. I'm sure you can find nice places closer. If you are going to be that far away, you might as well stay in Berchtesgaden, less than an hour by bus, slightly longer by train, from Salzburg. In May, I stayed here. It's a short walk to the Bahnhof/bus stop and they only charge €48/night for 2 people w/ breakfast. The bus from Berchtesgaden to Salzburg costs €9,50/p for a day pass and stops near the old town on the way to Salzburg Hbf. If you are only interested in an inexpensive place to stay - quite nice actually, but not the charm of Filzmoos or Berchtesgaden, I have also stayed here a couple of times. The bus to Salzburg Altstadt takes 20 min (€2,10/p) from the stop a block away. It's €55/night for 2 people with breakfast.

Hello Irene, I'm so delighted to help you with this one. I highly recommend the Alpenhotel Wurzer in Filzmoos. It is wonderful. Very charming and clean as a whistle! Excellent breakfasts . I know the people that own it and we have stayed there a couple times. I love this little town. Very easy to get to Salzburg. Ellen is very helpful and speaks excellent english as she was raised in the US. Her e-mail address is [email protected]
The website is www.alpenhotel-wurzer.at. Tell Ellen that Sharon Weaver told you about the Wurzer. Have a wonderful trip!

Irene, priced between the two prior suggestions, and right in the center of old town Salzburg is the Weiss Taube. You can check it out on tripadvisor.com by searching by name. It does not appear under Salzburg, but rather is found on a more general search.
