Salzburg accomodations

Hi everyone,
Looking for accommodations: hotel, B&B, apt. in Salzburg. I've successfully used the RS search function to book K&T Boardinghouse in Vienna. Wish list: located in center or very near everythingon the river with a view-wow. We are traveling by train. Don't mind spending a little extra if it's worthwhile to do so. Hoping for $100 to $175 per night for two beds, two people. Can anyone speak for arte vida or Hotel Krone 1512 since it's renovation or Hotel Scherer (concerned about a review that said the Scherer flipped them to another property...)? Other properties you've recently enjoyed? Thanks in advance for your help,

Take a look at ABC-Altstadt apartments. Heide has three apartments - A stands for Antonia, B for Beatrice and C for Constanze. The best part is the location - the building is right on Getreidegasse. With soundproof windows, you don't hear any noise, but are right on the beautiful wrought iron signed street. Highly recommended on TripAdvisor and Booking.com.

We've always stayed at the Hotel Elefant, just off the Getreidegasse. Lovely rooms and so close to everything.

sundance, I stayed at the Hotel Goldene Krone on my last visit to Salzburg and found it to be a very convenient location. The room was very comfortable and the staff were great. However, as you noted it appears to have been renovated and under new management but I'm assuming it will be much the same. There are some nice restaurants in the area and it's an easy walk across the river (ie: to visit the Castle). Happy travels!

Last summer we (2 adults & 2 teenagers) stayed at Haus Ballwein just outside of old town (http://www.haus-ballwein.at/en_our-house.htm) for around 100 Euros per night with breakfast. We caught the bus literally in front of the B&B and in less that 15 minutes we were in old town. Mr. & Mrs. Ballwein were very good hosts.
