Salzburg

Hello! My daughter will be traveling to Salzburg this summer with a youth group. (Lucky girl!) Almost everything is included for her trip. I'm trying to figure out how much money she should bring for her trip for souvenirs and a few snacks. Typical teenage items are hoodies, wallet, magnets, key chains - those type of things. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Just double what you think she would spend on such items here in the USA! The value of the Euro seems to continue to rise.

It might help, too, to know how long she will be there.

Easiest thing would be to give her a credit card for the trip, so that she's covered. Safe, convenient, easy. Then, in Salzburg, she can withdraw some pocket monet from ATM (just call your bank, make sure ATM card will work there, which it almost certainly will), so that she money for items like snacks, sodas, etc. during the day. But for clothing, souveniers and the like, a credit card is the way to go. Safer than having a lot of cash on her. Salzburg is a beautiful place; hope she has a great time.

I love that city! My 3 twenty somethings did too. If you do give her a copy of your credit card/debit card (with limits given to her of course) MAKE SURE you let the bank know the user will be overseas...I was not allowed to use one of my cards (thank God I brought two) because to the banks it looks like it is stolen...since the owner is not from Europe...but if you let them know it saves a lot of problems! My daughter got a pre paid credit card and was NOT able to use it most places in Germany, Austria or Paris..some places took it others did not and we never found out why. I just took money out of my account thru ATM for her. They also do not have the usual American sweatshirts and "labeled" t-shirts in most cities I went to .....I actually did not see many people or teens wearing either of them there...If you did it was in tourist areas and they stuck out (my son was one) buying post cards can be good for herself...and I never thought I'd agree with my mother in law, but the views of major sites ARE better on the cards than ones you take.....then take pics with her friends and her that place her in those areas. I looks good in scrap books later. It has the feel of a college city (it is) . We love the old city
Oh yes, when my daughter worked in Disney one semester, she had a debit card with my name on it too(dual acct) and if she was ever "stuck" I could deposit something in it....(but I told her I could only put a limited amount in it). She will love it there!
