My husband and I have 4 days in Barcelona and are both huge Dali fans. It doesn't seem like it is possible to tour both the house and museum as one day trip (or is it)? So I would like a recommendation, which is better?
Thanks in advance
Since we have a Dali museum here in St Pete, Florida, I felt that it was necessary to see it in Figueres. What a wild, wacky museum. I loved it. I wished I did not have a time constraint to spend more time there but I only had 1.5 hours to experience the museum. I did not see his house, but I feel that you should not skip out on the museum.
We only visited the museum, as well. I loved it, and I'm not even the person in our family who's the big Dali fan (that's my son). It was a very fun museum, and I kept thinking of how Dali must enjoyed designing it, and deciding where the pieces would go.
Well i haven't been there either but last week saw an interview about/with the actor John Malkovinch and he didn't much care for Dali, but he loved the museum in Fougeres (i know i didn't spell that right...) I've also seen documentaries of his house..also not visted by me. Personal opinion..i'd go for the house..i love being in places where the artist acually breathed and looked out the window.
Three years ago I was there and visited the house...you MUST get an admission ticket beforehand, and you MUST be on time. The space is limited, and the visit was most enjoyable. The rooms are left just as they were when occupied, at least according to the information given. The location is amazing, about 15 feet from the waters edge. I also went to the city and looked at the outside of the museum. I did not go inside...some in the group did, and their reactions were that the house was the better choice.
Also, if you have time, visit Cape De Rogue -- fantastic gardens in the area directly on the sea coast.
