Saint Emilion France accomedations

We plan to tour the Bordeaux wine region for a couple of days and would like to stay within 30 minutes of Saint Emilion. Our preference is a place with charm. Perhaps a chateau on a winery or a B & B. We would like to keep our cost below $200 euro. Our preference is to stay between Sarlat and Saint Emilion as we will travel to Bordeaux after that. any recommendations on a place to stay?

Hi Laurie, We stayed at Chateau Meylet, just outside of St. Emillion. It is a workaday wine 'domaine', where we saw them picking grapes. The house is spotless, our room was lovely, and breakfast excellent. Rick lists it in his France book. All others staying there were French. Very easy to walk into town. We paid around 60 Euros two years ago for two people. The whole area around the Chateau is vineyards, very pretty. Knowing a bit of French would be an asset, as Madame Favard speaks very little English. She was kind enough to pick us up from town one evening. [email protected]

Agree with Barb-Hotel Meylet was a perfect place to stay. Easy walk to town, nice breakfast, and Madam even did laundry for us. Her English is limited so the conversation regarding the laundry was interesting. Her daughter speaks English. Would definitely stay there again. Do not miss the wine caves in St Emilion-not just the shops but real caves way underground.

Thank you both for the tips I will be checking into this. We plan to visit wineries too.
