Safety on overnight train to Munich

I'm college-age and female, is it safe for me to take a train from Luzern, Switzerland overnight to Munich, arriving at Munich in the early morning (6am) alone? I've traveled a lot in the US, but not in Europe. Seems foolish for me to even ask but I'm meeting many young women traveling alone in the hostel I'm staying at, so I figure it must happen.

Yes, it is safe. Use normal precautions (secure your valuables) and you will be fine.

Diane, what night train are you considering? There is not a true night train from Luzern to Munich. The closest fit would be to connect with the Euronight train from Zurichto Salzburg. This arrives in Salzburg at 4:14 am soyou would have to be awake to get off that train to transfer to the one to Munich, arriving just after 6 am. This is a roundabout way to connect these two cities and probably more expensive than the regular daytime trains which cover the route in 5.5 to 6 hours, with only a single train change at Zurich.

A couple of times a day, there is are 5H18M EC connections from Luzern to Munich with a fare as low as 39€. These connections have one change in Zürich.

Lee, does that price include the Luzern to Zurich leg too? If so, that is a fantastic price.
