HI, I'm going to be in Madrid this Oct. I plan to take night bus from Madrid to Seville. I looked up the information on bus website and the trip will be from 23:59 to 06:10 next morning. It's a great time saving as I have the whole next day but I'm concerned about the bus station safety. Is it ok for a solo female traveler to be at the Madrid bus station that late hour? Any suggestion for transportation from Madrid to Seville will be appreciated. Cheers, Nhan
Personally I would take the train since it is only 2 and a half hours but the bus station is fine even at that hour.
it's safe no problem. just don't wonder around too much. in the waiting area it's fine. Train is better though, more comfortable to move around.
Train or bus, I'm sure it's quite safe as long as you keep your wits about you as you should in any big city. I would be more concerned with the plan to spend the night in transit. Not sure if you have done this before but many people will get exactly zero sleep on a bus (or train) and will be an unhappy zombie for the next couple of days. I'd be more worried about that.
Nhan,
Last week I travelled from Madrid's Méndez Alvaro station to Granada during the day time. If that is your bus station, it was quite busy. There is a waiting area coming from the Metro station connecting to the ALSA bus station. If you can wait in that area until your departure time, you should be fine. There are lots of shops, lot of foot traffic and you can also watch the bus schedule from this area.
