In Reutte I'm looking for a pension or B&B serving breakfast and room choices for a family of five adults. Maybe a family room or large double...
In RS larely seeing hotels and not B&B's or pensions or gasthaus's $$ with this description. Did I miss something?
Great thoughts. You are right in that there is no mention of it being industrialzed and not a quaint village in the traditional sense. I'd rather look into your ideas. So glad to have your input.
Jana,, I just googled the words "Ruette B@B and found about a half dozen listings,, didn't bother looking farther, but if I was you I would read all of them, see which appealed the most, then type in the words " reviews of "then the name of the places.
I went through Reutte a few years ago and was shocked at what an unattractive town it is. The center of town is too industrial and a little run down. And from what I have seen online, a lot of places to stay are outside town and not very accessible to public transportation. I find there are a lot more places to stay in Pfronten, which is a much more attractive town and just as convenient to Fuessen. Use the town website to search for accommodations. It has an English side at www2.pfronten.de/index.shtml?pfen_homepage . In 2009, I stayed in Pfronten at another place, but I went past Gasthof Aggenstein and found it very attractive. I've heard they speak English. Aggenstein is a manageable walk from the Pfronten-Steinach station and on the bus line that runs from Steinach station to the main station at Ried, from which there are many buses to Fuessen. There is a bus stop right in front of Aggenstein. You are not very likely to find a room for five, or even four adults in Germany (or Austria). You might be better off looking for a Ferienwohnung (vacation apartment). FW usually have a living room with a studio couch as well as one or more additional bedrooms. They will have a kitchenette, where you can fix your own breakfast. Some, if they are part of a property with just rooms, will offer breakfast at an additional cost. Incidently, Googling "Ruette B@B" or even "Ruette B&B" probably won't get you anything in the Austrian town. The town name is "Reutte", pronounced Royt-tah. Ruette would actually be Rütte - more like Rit-tah.
"Did I miss something?" You're missing many better towns. Reutte... Mix together a bunch of factories, loading docks, modern German/Austrian office buildings, stores and houses, and sprinkle in just enough traditional Tyrolian-style chalets here and there to remind you that you're in the Alps and you have Reutte. Probably a very pleasant place to live, but why Mr. Steves chooses to highlight this town, of all the wonderful places to stay in the Tyrol-Allgäu region, I have no idea. You are probably more likely to find lodging for five in one of the more established resort towns, like Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Erhwald or Lermoos.
Hi Jana, While we never stayed in Reutte, we passed through and visited twice during our 2 stays in Fuessen. The second visit was just to see if we missed something the first time. We didn't. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay in Reutte. Industrial... didn't see much of that side, but to us it lacked any kind of charm and there are too many nicer towns and villages to stay in nearby. We liked our 2 stays at the Hotel zum Hechten in Fuessen. www.hotel-hechten.com You may also want to look into this area by the Zugspitze, not too far from Fuessen, Neuchwanstein, etc.: www.zugspitzarena.com/en/summer/welcome/ Paul
