We will be staying in Paris the week after Christmas and over new year's. I would like to stay near Rue Cler, but was wondering -
will there still be action on this street (i.e. are shops open and people selling stuff), or will it be quiet during this period? I would hate to stay near there and not be able to take advantage of it. I would appreciate any thoughts.
I was there immediately after Christmas one year. The only thing that was probably any different than other times of the year (an assumption, because that's the only time I have visited) was that there was a small Christmas market. Everything was open. In general, Paris usually sees an uptick in visitors during the Christmas holiday season. Probably not as heavy as the peak in summer, but still pretty busy.
I hope you have your reservations already. I'm going to Paris the first week in December. I booked a little over a week ago and I ended up taking my 4th choice of hotels. I had looked originally at going the week before Christmas. The only way that would have worked would have been by moving between hotels every other day. I didn't look at the week after Christmas but I'd still expect it to be busy.
Thank you. We are booking the hotel now - some hotels are booked others are not.
