Rue Cler restaurant Rick mentions in Postcards from Europe

My wife and I just enjoyed listening to Rick's "Postcards from Europe" audiobook. He goes on at length about shopping along Rue Cler with a female restauranteur, but we didn't catch the name of her restaurant. Does anyone know what it's name is?

Thanks!

La Serre and it is several blocks over from Rue Cler (going towards the Eiffel Tower). I ate there with my sister and nephew a few years ago. It is quite small and as I recall, the food was excellent.

But I've never understood how she gets away with running such a hostile hotel (also named La Serre and directly across from the Leveque).

I did notice that the restaurant was in the 2006 guidebook, but Rick dropped it in 2007.

He dropped the hotel about five years ago. After the shopping scene in the Rue Cler was filmed.

I stayed at the Le Serre hotel last summer. Not sure I'd stay there again. They were nice enough, but they had all sorts of rules posted everywhere: no laundry, no this or that.

However, a more troubling issue I experienced was a staff conflict that involved my reservation and payment. I stayed one night, and then decided to stay two more. The guy at the desk said I would have to change rooms the next day, took my payment via credit card, and that was that - or so I thought.

The next day another guy was up front, and he said I didn't have to change rooms. But then he told me that they had no record of my payment. He slammed his coworker as incompetent, but then acted like I would have to repay. I pulled out my zip-bag of receipts, and he looks and says, "I don't think you'll find it." However, I found it, and then he said, "can we keep it?" Of course, I told him to make a copy, which he did.

That was the end of that mess, but it left a sour taste in my mouth.

The Hotel La Serre is infamous. Check the reviews on Tripadvisor. We stayed there five years ago and they wouldn''t let us bring food for our baby into our room.
