I will have 3 nights in Paris with my new girlfriend, and want to stay in the Rue Cler neighborhood. I stayed a week there at the Grand Leveque 2 years ago solo, but would like something nicer and a bit roomier this time. I am debating the Relais Bosquet and the Motte Picquet, and am quite open to other suggestions. Any suggestions?
Paul, We stayed at Realis Bosquet in May/June. Great little hotel that was perfectly located for us. We had a view of ET right out our window. Pastry shop next door, restraunts and Crepe stand just minutes down the street. Free internet.
Paul,
I'm sure whether these will fit your price criteria of €200 (might depend on which time of the year you'll be travelling), but two Hotels you might consider are This one or This one.
Bonne Voyage!
My wife and I just returned from Paris yesterday where we stayed for five nights at Hotel du Cadran on Rue du Champ de Mars, just around the corner from Rue Cler. It was our first trip to Paris, but we loved the hotel and location. The staff was very helpful, the rooms were decently sized, and it had wi-fi. Three or four restaurants and gelato place were steps away on Rue Cler, and many other restaurants, Army Museum, and Eiffel Tower within very easy walking distance.
I’ll recommend Hotel de la Tulipe, a very nice little boutique hotel on rue Malar…a couple of blocks east of rue Cler: http://paris-hotel-tulipe.com/hotel_english.html. Rates are €125 - €165 per night.
I have stayed at the Relais Bosquet two separate times and really liked it - bright rooms and really cool electronically controlled room-darkening window shades. I would stay there again.
We stayed at the Hotel du Cadron (next to the corner of Champs de Mars and Rue Cler) our first trip and enjoyed it, though we chose to stay in another area for our next trip. Our only complaint with the hotel was in our room it was sometimes impossible to get hot water in the shower. I literally set my alarm to get up at 6 a.m. so I could take a hot shower. My sister stayed on another floor and never had that problem, so it might have just been my room. I rented the hotel on Expedia, where I was able to get the 5th night free. They might have some deal there now (I was there 3 years ago) that would cover a shorter time. Have a great time!
Paul, try the Muguet (per previous suggestion) and ask for a superior double. You'll get a triple with the third bed being in an anti-room and the 3rd bed, during the day, is an upholstered chaise-lounge between the bathroom and bedroom. Very tasteful, very new and for a few bucks more you can get a view of the ETower.
Two minutes to Rue Cler but spend the few extra Euros for a breakfast in the very bright and clean Muguet breakfast room (which you can use during the day for bring-home snacks for lunch or dinner).
You'll find the normal rooms typically Paris small but the furniture is so new and expensive (looking), you won't notice. Mme. Pelletier, the owner, runs a tight ship and what you see on her website is what you get; including for their rental apartment a few blocks away.
This place has been well reno'd within the past few years and very well done.
The Muguet sounds wonderful and wanted to stay there. Just a suggestion to book way in advance because this hotel gets full very quickly, even in off seasons.
We stayed at the Motte Picquet in May for 4 nights. Great location, very close to the metro stop Ecole Militaire, easy and close to many places to eat, including a great pastry shop. Couldn't say enough about the Motte Picquet, they were awesome and we stayed in a total of 3 rooms. (1 room that roomed our family for 3 nights, and 2 rooms that we divided our family up for 1 night) The rooms were cute, roomier than I expected and service unsurpassed anywhere else we stayed. Check out TripAdvisor and everyone I had read had a wonderful stay there. Great neighborhood for walking. We'll stay here next time for sure.
