Does anybody out there have a favorite Rüdesheim hotel? I'm planning a trip for two couples; our budget is not unlimited, but not "bare bones" either. I've pretty much decided on Rüdesheim, because our travelling companions like a lot of activity (and a lot of wine.)

Karen, one October, on business in Frankfurt, I had a weekend to enjoy. On advice of my Frankfurt associates, I booked a room in Hotel Krone (in Assmannshausen). Rüdesheim and Assmannshausen are towns which physically merged long ago, but remain separate towns politically, I think. From the Hotel Krone to anywhere in Rüdesheim is a short stroll. You could Google Hotel Krone to obtain details. To my mind, everything there (including Hotel Krone) is Rheinland-magical... Hope your trip is magic, too. P.

Karen, my wife and I have stayed in Rüdesheim twice, and at the same hotel, the Ring Hotel Central. It is owned by a nice German couple who speak very good English, and they have a wonderful restaurant. Both the hotel and restaurant are reasonably priced. It is close-in, within walking distance of everything. If you are driving, they also have free parking. A few months ago I recommended it to a group on RS's site, and they wrote back thanking me for such a good tip. I think you will like it.
