RS Spain Book 2009 or 2010 for Summer 2010

I will go to Spain in the summer 2010.

I ordered my RS Spain 2009 guidebook and found out that a 2010 version is coming out.

If I return it to Amazon.com (and purchase the 2010 version), the return shipping/handling + custom tax cost will be over $40 (I am not in the US right now).

If you were to go to Spain in the summer 2010, would a 2009 version be alright? Or would you get the 2010 version?

Thank you!

Judy...use the 2009 version, and keep checking Rick's website for updates. Even the 2010 edition will contain errors in times of events, admission prices, etc, simply because it comes from data put together a year in advance. So as long as you double-check those kinds of items at the source, you'll be OK. There is a chance some of Rick's recommended hotels, restaurants, etc, may have fallen off his endorsed list between the 2009 and 2010 book, but most are favourites he's had for years. The walking tour and hisstorical background information, which I find most valuable, won't change.

This summer my mother and I had two different versions of RS Portugal. I had 09 and she had 08. The differences were minimal. We would have been fine with just 08. (the big difference we found was in food in one town, but in truth we rarely eat where Rick suggests for some reason)

Another good reason to buy RS guide books from RS thru this web site - they have sales weekly and sometimes the guide books are on sale.

We have used Steve's books that are four and five years old with no problem other than the prices have changed. Some things get added or dropped but you can always check the web site for changes.

Our local library has them all Judy, it might be worth checking! Keep your 2009 book, and grab the 2010 from the library for a couple weeks just to check for major differences! :)
