Royal greenhouses in Laeken, outside Brussels

Does anyone know how to get from Brussel's city center (the grand place or the central train station) to the Royal greenhouses in Laeken, which is just outside Brussels? I heard it was an easy metro ride to the park, but I can't seem to find the route. Any advice would be appreciated.

Looking at the map, the easiest way appears to be to get tram line 3 from the north-south tram subway (gare de midi to gare du nord via Bourse or de Brouckere) to the Araucaria stop in Laeken. Or take the metro line 6 to Bockstael station and then walk or take the bus. Note though that the royal greenhouses are only open this year from 13th April to 6th May according to the official site (http://www.monarchie.be/fr/actuel/agenda/archives/ouverture-des-serres-royales-de-laeken-printemps-2012). Closed Mondays and it appears that Tuesday 17th April is reserved for disabled people.

If it helps, they're within (long) walking distance of the Atomium. I think the metro stop is Heysel.

Visited in 2008. I can't remember exactly how we got there but I do know it involved the metro (I remember riding past the Atonium on the metro) and a combination of a bus ride and/or short walk. I can tell you its worth the trip. The greenshouses are beautiful. Enjoy!

Thank you for your advice! Since we will be arriving at the South Station in Brussels, I will use Philip's advice and take tram line 3 from the north-south tram subway (gare de midi to gare du nord via Bourse or de Brouckere) to the Araucaria stop in Laeken. Then it is a short walk to the greenhouses. I'm really looking forward to seeing the gardens. There are two other options that are very good from South Station: From Gare Du Midi, take tram # 51, towards Heysel and get off at the Heysel stop (34 mins, 23 stops). Then walk through the park to the greenhouses. You can also get off at stop Centenaire, which is closer to the greenhouses and walk through Park de Laeken. Another option: From Gare Du Midi, take subway # 6, towards Roi Baudouin, and get off at the Heysel stop (17 mins, 12 stops). Then walk past the Atomium through the park.
