route planner

hi am planning my first trip to europe this year in the uk i have always used google maps to assist my journeys but after reading on the internet notice alot of referance to viamichelin so thought i would take a look i will be able to sort my crossing via tunnel and intend to stay dunkirkque for my first stop over and i know munich will be my destination so i thought i would basically start with that and work around my route i know about tolls and vignette but my dilema came when i just asked for route dunkirkque to munich i did not add or change any options google gave travel time of average of 587 miles traveling none stop 8 and a half hours yet via michelin worked out also with no options at almost 10 hour journey 562 miles this i found alarming as now i have to dicide which one is best to use to assist my planning as i nunderstand that the travel time varies if i stop but not the navigation assisance

Viamichelin might have a better handle on local traffic. The one time I was on the German A8, I was bowled over by the lorry traffic going up from the Rhine in the direction of Stuttgart. I show 582 mi and 9 1/2 hours.
