Rouen hotel near train station

Husband and I are staying one night in Rouen before taking TGV to the airport. Does anyone have a hotel near the train station that they would recommend?

We have stayed at the Hotel de la Cathédrale, which as you might expect is right across form the cathedral. It is quite a charming place and about a 15 minute walk from the station, but you could always take a cab which is what we did.

'Its not the TGV that runs to Rouen, though.' seems to be a bit of an odd statement.

I stayed at Hotel des Carmes, about 10 minutes away from the train station. It was a cute place, not expensive and right next to the cathedral. Rooms are cheaper if you climb the stairs.

I hope you do hear back from the Hotel de la Cathedrale. I contacted them several times via their internet site, and they never replied back (perhaps I was too early?); so, I now have a reservation at the Hotel Cardinal which is close by. We will be there next month so have not stayed there yet.

Rouen has a nice little Metro that stops at the SNCF station. So you can still have convenience even if your hotel is a bit further away!

Make reservations for dinner at Les Nympheas on Rue de la Pie! It's world class!

Bon Voyage!

Here's and a couple of ideas:

google tgv rouen and see what happens

stand by the tracks and see what goes by

or use Wiki, the ultimate source:

With the high speed rail network TGV, Rouen is connected to the following stations:

Le Havre - Rouen-Rive-Droite - Mantes-la-Jolie - Versailles-Chantiers - Massy - Lyon-Part-Dieu - Valence TGV - Avignon TGV - Marseille-Saint-Charles

Le Havre - Rouen-Rive-Droite - Mantes-la-Jolie -
Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV - Champagne-Ardenne TGV - Meuse TGV - Lorraine TGV - Strasbourg

The second route is really interesting

Here's a wee map:

Edit: Steve has deleted his snotty post formerly just above this that restated his contention that there was no TGV service to/from Rouen. At the same time he edited his preliminary post to reflect his new-found knowledge.
