I just got back (still suffering from jet lag so please excuse any typos) from a 12 day/11 night trip to Germany and Salzburg.
When we departed Rothenburg we took a cab from our hotel in Rothenburg (Hotel Gotisches Haus) to the train station. An older gentlemen (his first name started with a C, maybe Carlto? and the last name with a P) drove us to the station. We arrive about 20 minutes early but the train was already there. The driver was very nice and made sure to place our luggage on a dry spot on the pavement, which was hard since it had snowed quite a bit the previous night (Dec 10?) . Anyhow my GF thought that was nice of him. Anyhow we got on the train and was waiting to depart. About 10 minutes later I see this guy walk down the aisle and realized it was our cab driver. He turned around and had my ski glove in his hand. Apparently it had detached from my clip on my jacket. It was a nice end to a visit to a place I always enjoy. I'd send a Thank You letter to the company if I knew where to send it. (And certainly a much better experience than the one we had with the Lufthansa agent in Houston.) Anyhow I thought I'd share my good experience. We had a wonderful time in Germany and enjoyed the snow and Christmas markets, sights, food, and the nice people.
It was great to read this Richard, thank you!
If your hotel called the taxi for you, they could help you with contact info (and probably can, anyway...). That's a nice cherry-on-top to your stay in RoDT!
