Rothenburg Germany hotel

seasoned travelers: In Rothenburg Germany would you stay at Klosterstubble hotel or Hotel Markusturm (by the clock)?

If I had a car I would stay at Castle Colmberg about 10 minutes outside of Rothenburg...how often do you get to say "I've stayed in a Medieval Castle"?

I've stayed at Klosterstubble and I'm staying there again here in a couple of weeks. It's a nice place and it's down in the middle of the old town in the middle of the RS suggested things. The restaurant in the hotel is good as well.

We stayed at Pension Poeschel and thought it was fine. We parked a short walk away, just outside the wall.

I have stayed twice at Hotel Gotisches Haus and it was very nice.

My vote goes to Klosterstueble also. It is a nice small hotel and they will direct you to a parking spot. Breakfast was great and staff helpful. Our room had wide plank wood floors, antiques, pretty rugs, Comfortable beds, and bathroom was recently renovated with Grohe faucets and Villeroy and Boch( of the china ) sinks.

What about the Altfrankische Weinstube? Rick recommends it and on Wed evenings, the English speaking club gets together and you can meet Herman the German!

We stayed at Romantik Hotel Markusturm several years ago and can highly recommend it. Last August we dined at Klosterstueble and had excellent meal, but haven't stayed in their hotel. A highlight of last year's trip was the Wed. evening English club meeting at Altfrankische Weinstube, meeting Herman the German and the other club members, and signing the guest book. Our meal that night was one of the best meals we've had in Germany. Great experience and not to be missed if you're in Rothenburg on a Wednesday. Also, do take the night watchman's tour. Rothenburg is a jewel that sparkles at night and early morning when the tour buses are absent. Last year was our 4th visit, hopefully, not our last!

Markus Turm is good, well situated, great restaurant However, our favorite hotel is Burg-Hotel (somehow they are related to Markus Turm), built into or on the City wall overlooking the valley. Fantastic large rooms, very nice owners; great breakfast

I've stayed at the Gasthaus Greifener and Klosterstuble and can't decide which one I like better!
