Rothenburg, Bavarian Alps, Bodenese, Zurich - Playgrounds

We are driving from Frankfurt to Zurich in the fall with our 8 year old son and are always on the lookout for cool playgrounds - anyone know any along this route - or other cool sites for an 8 year old boy.

If you make it over to Salzburg you should take him to hellbrunn palace. There is an awesome playground on the edge of the garden area, and they have "trick fountains."

In Hallstatt he would love taking the salt mine tour and riding down the "banisters" which are like 100 foot wooden slides.

Ok, I just looked at my map and both of these places are probably out of the way, but you mighty be going near Reutte / Fussen in which case you should to the luge near Fussen and then do the hike up to Rheinfalls. A boy can imagine he is King - my son really liked it. If you spend a night in this area you should stay in Pinswang at Gastof zum Schluxen www.schluxen. They have an awesome playground with trampoline and all, along with many animals right on the grounds. It was my son's favorite place we stayed!

I seem to recall at least one playground and a rather sad-looking miniature golf course in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Although I don't know of any specifically, there has to be a children's luge somewhere in the Bavarian Alps.
