Has anyone stayed at the Rosa Linde bed and breakfast in Vienna? It is in the 7th district - is this a nice neighborhood? We've never been to Vienna and are just starting to do some research on what areas are good to stay in. Thanks for any insight!
Dawn,
I haven't stayed at the Rosa Linde, but I did stay at the K&T Boardinghouse 2 this summer. It is in Rick's book. We loved it. The price was amazingly low, given that it was across the street from a Metro station, right off the main shopping street, and walking distance to the museum quarter. Very clean and spacious. Breakfast is not included, but there is a cafe and a Starbucks around the corner.
Let me put my second in on K&T Boardinghouse. They now have two modern properties in great locations. Tina is a doll, and is very accommodating. Her places are spotless and great values. Vienna is truly a world class city, especially for music, dance and the arts. The Hapsburgs' palaces are incredible and not to be missed. We especially enjoyed a memorable night in the Vienna Woods--drinking the young white wines. FYI: Tina is actually Hungarian, but speaks many, many languages. She also has friends running budget B&B's all over the place, and has links on her web site to them.
Thank you both for your suggestions! I'll definitely check on K&T Boardinghouse. We plan on going to the heurigers too - hopefully it won't be too cold since we're going in early November!
In April 2011 I stayed at Pension Dr. Geissler near Schwedenplatz. Very reasonable, walking distance to everything. near Metro, breakfast included.
