Ronda to Sevilla via Gilbraltar

I am evaluating if a one day trip from Ronda to Gilbraltar and then on to Sevilla is too much for one day.

I love answering questions from New Mexicans. (I'm originally from Abq.) You're proposing a long day of travel, but it sounds about right to me. Gibraltar is essentially one of those things to check off of your "OK, now I've seen that" list, and anything more than several hours there seems to be gluttony for punishment. Buen viaje.

You can do a day trip from Sevilla to Rhonda, or vice versa, but from Ronda to Gilbraltar is too long. You first of all have to get there (nice drive through the cork forest)and then cross the border, (better to walk across). Sure Gilbraltar is a check in the box, but you should go to the top of the rock and see the old town at least. Much too long of a trip for just a day.

Assuming you have a car, your total driving time should be 4 to 4.5 hours, so it is do-able. The worst part of the drive will be the A-397 from Ronda to Marbella, which is very twisty. They've done a good job widening the road, but it is still an interesting drive through the mountains. Then it's the toll road, the AP-7, to La Linea. Park at the underground parking lot 2 blocks from the border and walk across, then follow Rick's tips for sight-seeing via bus. You could leave Ronda by, say 8, be in Gibraltar by 10, spend until, say 7 pm there, and be in Sevilla by 930 pm. That gives you nine hours there and, like adynata, I figure that should be more than enough time there.
