I'd like to see whatever Roman ruins are open to visitors in Paris. Please share your suggestions. Thanks.
2 sites that come to mind immediately are the Archaeological Crypt under the Parvis de Notre Dame - roman ruins located under the far end of the square in front of Notre Dame, and the Roman Arena - Arenes de Lutece - off rue Monge in the Latin Quarter.
Oh - and the roman baths in the foundation level of the Cluny Museum - the Musee National du Moyen Age, also in the 5th arr.
In addition to the items mentioned previous
Crypte Archeologique (crypt under the square of Notre Dame) and the Baths at Musee de Cluny there is also Arenes de Lutece (or Lutetia the Roman name for Paris)at rue Navarre in the 5th arrondisement at Metro Jussieu (line 10 and 7).
It dates to the late 2nd century - and of course the arena in a state of ruins. There is a public park built surrounding.
The Crypte Archeologique is also one of the better museums to purchase the Paris Museum Pass because you will not need to wait in line.
