We are flying in to Nice and driving to Aix en Provence. Does anyone know anything about the toll roads? Approximately how much cash will we need to cover the tolls? Also on our drive back we would like to take a scenic drive from Aix to Anitibes. Any suggestions on a route to take?
To get a better idea about the costs & routes, check: viamichelin.com Just put in your departure and arrival points. It wll show you how much the tolls would cost for each type of route you choose: recommended, shortest, sightseeing/scenic, etc. I have found this site to tend to be accurate on costs, but it sometimes underestimates time.
You lucked up and got one of the cheaper roads --less than twenty-five euros, probably. Have cash for the tolls, credit card may or may not work. Going back, head down to Cassis and hug the coast the rest of the way until you get tired of it, then cut back up to the E80. Going the whole way on the coast roads could take a good six hours - - worse in summer. Cassis to Saint Tropez is the best part of the slow drive.
From French Autoroutes Society its either €16.00 or €17.40 depending on which Nice entry you use.
