Hi - We (2 retired couples) are flying into Prague on 09/19/12. After 3 days, we would like to take the train from Prague to Passau and travel to Vienna via Danube river boat. Can anyone give us some advice on this idea? Is it a good idea? Is there a direct train connection? Are there boats or ferries that we can take to Vienna? Thanks in advance!

You can find train schedules on the German Rail (Bahn) website. Put in "Prague", "Praha" (Praha hl.n., actually), or "Prag" (the German spelling). It should accept any of those. You are not going to find a direct (no change) connection all the way from Prague to Passau, but there are several 1 change connections. The fastest is a bus from Prague hl.n. (main station) to Nürnberg Hbf and an ICE (or IC) from there to Passau. The other 1 change connection is not as fast, an all train connection with an ALX train from Prague to Regensburg and an ICE from there to Passau. There are some faster connections with more changes via the train.
