Looking for an 8 day trip any suggestions for best company and why?

We're not normally tour folks but we used Grand Circle Travel 3 years ago for the Rhine/Mosel trip and really enjoyed it. Excellent food, staff, and guides. The company is excellent, we used them on our only other tour (I'd rather do the planning) when we visited St. Petersburg and Scandinavia. Send me a p.m. if you'd like more info.

My wife and I did an Avalon cruise from Amsterdam to Basel. Personally, I'd rather do it by ourselves but she likes the river cruise pampering. The section of the Rhine between Amsterdam and Cologne is pretty bleak. There isn't much of historical interest in Cologne except for the cathedral. There's lots of shopping. The best part of the cruise starts at Koblenz. There are many river cruise lines. I've only been on Avalon but have heard good things about AMA. I'm sure they are all pretty similar.
