Rick's France vs Provence Guide Book

I already purchase the France book and plan to spend time in Paris and 10 days in the Provence area. Does the Provence guide offer enough extra information to make it worth buying it and carrying 2 guides around with you?

I thought it did and carried both. With ten days in Provence you'll have lots of time to explore and will value it. I found it helpful. You could only take the parts of the big book that you'll actually need. I know that some people are fundamentally opposed to ripping up books. In general I agree, except that guide books are meant to be temporal. Pam

Don,
We just got the Provence book even though we had both the France and Paris books for our spring trip. The Provence book has a lot more in it and covers more areas. You'll definitely want it if you do 10 days in Provence. You could just bring parts of the France book to lighten you load. How long are you in Paris? The Paris book has musuem tours, walks etc which make that useful too. I take the books apart to save weight. I feel the most recent guidebooks are necessary. Good Travels You'll love France!

Consider getting Lonely Planet's Provence guide. It will have a different take on many places than Rick's and add diversity to your research. Plus, Lonely Planet covers many more places.

Thanks for the replies. I just checked out both Rick's and Lonely Planet's Guide to Provence to evaluate each.
