I am looking for a two night stay close to Lyon with lodging in a winery that prepares dinners, along with wine education. Any ideas?
Do a google search for 'Lyon winery housing' and 'Lyon accommodations'.
All of this in one place? That's going to be difficult. For the wine education part, go to Le Hameau du Vin in Romaneche-Thorins on the Beaujolais Wine Route. And for the sleeping part, consider this chateau, in the same general area: This is the Château de Pizay Four stars /
Route de Morgon F - 69220 Morgon/St Jean d'Ardières
It's difficult to find one property fulfilling your specific description--but the two properties described above appear to combine what you're looking for. This is the Beaujolais Wine Country north of Lyon--yes, the easy drinking Beaujolais! If you're a white wine, white Zin or rose wine drinker, Beaujolais may be the ideal first red wine to drink. To really get a feeling for being in France, visit a Lyon bistro and order a carafe of young Beaujolais with your charcuterie, pate, or chicken. No wine slides down your throat as easily. Enjoy....
Hi Sandi. In October we are staying at the Chateau de Vaulx. We have never stayed there before , but they do have meals and there are many wine things to do around there. The rooms look outstanding. We are photographers and we are staying in Burgundy for a week or so and then driving down to Provence, and we thought this looked good. Usually we stay in Rick Steves' hotels , but as you already know there are not any in this region. The people speak English, and appear very capable of telling you of any wine things in the area. We are not going to Lyon, but are getting off the A6/A7 and travelling down the west side of the Rhone.Look this up-it looks interesting. Send me a message if you want further info.
