I have the opportunity to spend October 18 & 19 (Thursday & Friday) in the Rhine or Mosel area of Germany--or really anywhere within easy driving distance of Amsterdam. I am interested in participating in a wine festival. What's the best way to find out about them? I think that I should make reservations soon for accomodations. Does anybody have a favorite town for that. Or if I stay somewhere like St. Goar (smaller town), are there easy train connections late at night for a local wine festival?

Most wine fests take place from late August to late September but there are a few even in the 2nd half of Oktober. The Palatinate Wine Road area would be about a 3 1/2 hrs easy drive all on freeways from Amsterdam, the rhine valley, as you know, is even closer.
