Rhine area for 3 days or only 2 with Frankfurt stay?

I'm readi g mixed reviews about Frankfurt. We r flying into frank. And were going to head straight to bacharch on train and speand 3 nites there with side trips to koln one day and the morsel another day. Should we stick with this plan or skip morsel and stay one nite in Frankfurt? Help!!! After we were going to either go straight to the romantic road area (stay in rothenburg) or first go to heidelberg for a few hours and then romantic road area. Open to any opinions and suggestions. Leaving next week.

Hey Lily! It really depends on what you're interested in. Personally, I don't have a problem with big cities like Frankfurt. They really have a lot to offer. If you like museums Frankfurt has a variety of them centrally located along the Main River in the Sachsenhausen district. Sachsenhausen is also home to many restaurants. If architecture is your thing then you'll love the modern skyline contrasted by the many historic buildings such as the Alte Oper, the Boerse, & the Roemerberg (old city center). There are numerous beautiful churches including the Kaiserdom where Holy Roman Emperors were crowned, St. Leonhardskirche & St. Nikolaikirche. The Zeil is a main shopping street and is loaded with shops of every kind.

Frankfurt does have a lot of wonderful things to see, it is SO much more than the skyscrapers. That is just one part of the city. Rick Steves recommends a walking tour there in his 2009 Germany book, that only costs 12 € and that would show you most of the main sights.

On to other things though, I like Heidelberg a lot. It will be really pretty by next week, with all the trees starting to turn green and the flowers blooming. We were there last year in April and I thought it was gorgeous. Especially when you get up by the castle and look out over the valley and the river.
