We will rent a car to see southern Germany and then drive to Salzburg. We plan to take a train to Vienna from Salzburg so will need to turn the car in before taking the train. In order to avoid drop fee we have read that the car can be returned to Freilassing (sp?) Germany which appears to be close to Salzburg. Question--how to get back to Salzburg to the train station? Is there a shuttle/bus? A taxi?

Freilassing is really just across the border. It takes 7 minutes by train from Freilassing Station to Salzburg Station and costs €1.90 p.p. Most car rental companies have a pick-up/drop-off station and Freilassing train station. I know Sixt have for sure. By the way trains to Salzburg run like every 15 minutes or so...
