Return train ticket to Murren

We will have a eurail pass and I know it allows for only a 25% discount to get from Interlaken to Murren. Question: Can I buy a return ticket for the next day or do I have to buy a one way ticket up to Murren and then in Murren the next day buy a ticket back to Interlaken Ost?

Hi Shelley,

I do not know for sure about the rail line to Mürren, but the line from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen only sells round-trip tickets for same-day travel. Just purchase the return ticket on the way back.

Is there any particular reason you wanted to buy the round-trip all at once?

Steve

We are arriving mid afternoon from Paris and we were going to stay in Interlaken until posters said go up.Therefore, we would have to purchase a ticket to Murren say 4PM- stay in Murren that evening and the next day- Schilthorn and then leave the next morning early 7am to catch our train to Venice 8.01am. If we had round trip tickets back to Interlaken it would help simplify things for 4-65+ year olds. Any suggestions would help.

Shelley,

Just make sure you get to the rail station five minutes early to buy tickets. If there is no ticket booth opened at that time, then you will be able to buy tickets from the conductor.

You can either buy one-way tickets or round-trip tickets from Interlaken Ost to Murren. Your choice. CLICK HERE to see the fares. You can buy these tickets at any train station in Switzerland.

There are two different ways to get to Murren. First, you take the Jungfraubahn train from track 2A in the Interlaken Ost train station to Lauterbrunnen. One-way tickets are fine. Once in Lauterbrunnen, you have two choices. 1) Go across the street and take the gondola to Grutschalp and then transfer to the cog train for the short ride into Murren. This is the primary way the Swiss will route you. 2)Again, go across the street but catch the bus in front of the gondola station and go to the Stechelberg gondola station. This gondola goes to Gimmelwald. At Gimmelwald, you walk a few feet to a second gondola to Murren. Murren is not large. The train station is at one end and the gondola station is at the other. You'll love it.
