Is there ground transportation back to Chamonix from La Palud that will get back the same day. (Next June, early planning) I would like to make the entire trip across the top and back in one day, rather than carrying my small luggage and backpack and heading on into Aosta for the night.
I realize this doesn't answer your question, but I was there 2 years ago and the peak was completely fogged in the day we planned to ascend. Do consider allowing an extra day in case the weather doesn't cooperate. Chamonix.net has lots of info btw.
Thanks for the helpful reply. I have had bad luck being fogged in Switzerland. The Chamonix website will be thoroughly scrutinized. Charles
Funny you should mention, we gave up on Mt Blanc and went to Martigny for lunch & looked at the Roman ruins. Was a lovely SUNNY day after we passed into Switzerland. There's enough to do in Chamonix for a couple of days waiting for the weather. Good luck.
Ditto with us. We came from Zermatt and was totally fogged in. The sun broke through finally but it was too late for us. Allow 2 days.
