Will be driving throughout France in September 2012. Do they have restricted zones like Italy??
Not to the same degree. All throughout Europe you need to watch out for three signs. The first is a red circle with an icon of a car inside, often a car and a motorcycle. That means no entry to cars, not even a little. Also there is a rectangular sign with icons of children playing and there is a ball in the air. That means no entry unless going directly to a local address, pedestrians and children have the complete right of way and speed must be kept to a walking pace. You will also perhaps see a rectangular or round blue sign with icons or words for buses and/or taxis and/or bicycles and perhaps times of day or days. These are lanes reserved for ONLY those vehicles during the stated times. If there is no time indicated, it is always 24/7/365. These areas, especially the first and last, are often patrolled by cameras.
